Advanced Transportation Systems
Cogenia Partners has been engaged in a wide variety of technical consulting projects associated with connected vehicles and telematics. Our team has supported projects sponsored by various US. Department of Transportation agencies and administrations. We are currently associated with several US DOT IDIQ contracting vehicles. We also support state and local advanced transportation projects through prime contractor partners. A sample of recent projects is provvided below.
Connected Vehicles
Developed concept of operations and performed detailed analytical study for a system using ADAS and automated vehicle sensors to detect and mitigate errors and intentional misbehavior in connected vehicles (Sponsored by US DOT/NHTSA)
Provided technical leadership on project to develop DSRC performance measures. Included extensive on-road testing and analsyis of DSRC systems using custom developed location and time based (ground truth) data capture and logging system (Sponsored by US DOT/NHTSA)
Contracted by the US DOT to develop detailed communications requirements for intersection safety applications, specifically applications served by Signal Phase and Timing and Geometric Intersection Description messages. Developed detailed assessment of available communications systems relative to these requirements. (Sponsored by US DOT/FHWA)
Cybersecurity
Technical lead for analysis of deployment options and strategies for connected vehicle Security Credential Management System (SCMS). Included detailed analysis of system and identification of critical factors impacting industry deployment and overall management of system. (Sponsored by US DOT/NHTSA, Sponsored by Transport Canada)
Performed extensive analysis of communications requirments for the efficient delivery of security credentials to connected vehicles. Included detailed traffic simulations and analysis of data loads and latencies. (Sponsored by US DOT/RITA)
Positioning
Contracted by The US DOT to analyze positioning requirements for a varitey of ITS applications. Developed systematic process based on functional safety and decision theory to define maximum allowable positioning errors. (Sponsored by US DOT/FHWA)
Michigan Test Bed (VII Proof of Concept)
Cogenia Partners served as the lead Systems Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Proof of Concept. This included development of system requirements, development of the vehicle subsystem architecture and requirements, managing suppliers during the implementation phase, and managing the integration and assessment of the overall system.
Integrated Active Transportation System (IATS)
Developed a high level concept of operations, and research strategy for an Integrated Active Transportation System. This was a long range study to envision and describe a transportation system that may be viable between now and 2050. Program included a combination of technical research and an examination of the social, political, legal and economic factors that may impact the realizability of such a system.
